Quick Update
Hey everyone :)
I haven’t posted anything in a while, so I thought I would give a quick update on what I’ve been up to.
Abitur
First of all, I fortunately passed my Abitur exams π₯³π!!
Now I have a lot more free time to work on my projects and write about them here.
I already have a few new ideas I want to work on after I finish working on other projects I started a while ago…
Hosting
I also switched hosting providers from DigitalOcean
to Vultr
,
since we plan on moving our entire PlayQ4.net
infrastructure to Vultr in the future, and I honestly prefer managing just one bill. π
We made that decision as we wanted to expand PlayQ4's
regional availability to South America, Africa, and more of Asia.
These regions were either not available at all on DigitalOcean or only sparsely covered, whereas Vultr has a much broader range of available regions.
I’m getting ahead of myself here though, as we haven’t even rolled out our current system yet, which will still be hosted on DigitalOcean.
It features a new scalable server system that launches servers on demand, which allows us to host more servers at a time while also reducing costs.
Migrating to Vultr will happen at some time in the future as an upgrade to the current system, which will be announced in a separate post.
(Probably on the PlayQ4.net
blog, but I will also link it here.)

Note
This table is complete as of writing this post, but may change in the future as both providers add or remove regions.
Website
Also, while switching providers, I upgraded both Hextra and Hugo to the latest versions, which was a bit of a hassle, as some of the changes broke my custom changes I did on my own… This meant I had to remove all changes I made for now and stick to the default abilities of the theme.
A thing I found was still working is my Spotify embed, which I stole from a different Hugo theme :D
What now?
For now, I will continue working on my projects and try to write more blog posts about them. I also plan on going to university to study computer science this year, so I will have to prepare for that as well.
:D
